by Blogger on ‎08-31-2014 11:41 PM - last edited on ‎09-02-2014 03:22 PM by Blog Editor in Chief

Innotabs.jpgIt’s exciting to watch your kid learn new things.  It’s just fascinating how little kids absorb information. Everyday I observe my daughter learning new things using the latest technology. Needless to say I got quite excited to test the Innotab 3 Plus and Innotab 3 S Plus, as they combine what I want for my daughter (developing her skills) with what my daughter wants from her toys (that she can pretend to be like mommy or daddy having a tablet like toy).

Last year I wrote a detailed review of 3 Awesome LeapPad Tablets Available in Canada from LeapFrog. Along the way I learned all about the many great features and benefits of LeapFrog's full complement of LeapPad tablets. Today I again set out to review one of LeapFrog's fun and educational learning products--but this time it's the brand new (and very cool) LeapPad 3 tablet, which represents the next generation of LeapFrog's awesome tablets for tots! The age range here is from 3 to 9, so most kids will be able to use it--and learn from it. So if you have, or know, a child in this age range and are thinking of getting them a fun and educational gift, then read on for the full review!

ClearPlex screen protectors cut on the spot for your mobile device

Buying a smartphone, tablet or laptop can be an exciting purchase, and naturally, you’d want to protect your investment. Cases certainly help cushion the body, but a good screen protector can withstand the daily rigours of your fingers and the scratches and blemishes that could tarnish an otherwise gorgeous display. Screen protectors come in various forms and types, but ClearPlex stands out as a unique option that is available at Future Shop.

I had a chance to check out Surface Cafe with Future Shop to experience it and get an intimate look at the Surface Pro 3 tablet. Here are five reasons why the latest from Microsoft rocks.

The Surface Pro 3 launch celebration at Microsoft's pop-up Surface Café continued on Day 2 of the weekend long event, with Toronto's own Jason Couse and Wes Marksell from The Darcys taking the stage in front of a jam-packed crowd of fans.

The Surface Pro 3, the tablet that can replace your laptop, is officially available in Canada. To celebrate the occasion, Microsoft has built a pop-up coffee shop on the vibrant Queen St. W. in Toronto fittingly dubbed the Surface Cafe.  This creative hub came alive with the general public interacting with the latest creation by Microsoft and through appearances by notable professionals using the Surface Tab 3, such as Rebecca Minkoff's brother Uri, Caitlin Cronenberg and Francis Manapul.

galaxy-tab-S.jpgSamsung has looked to shake up the tablet market yet again, this time with a brand new line, the Galaxy Tab S, which brings in Super AMOLED screens, catapulting them to the most advanced displays of any tablet available. The company has also made them thinner, lighter and has pushed a synergy with smartphones like the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 3.

Wireless-AC vs. Wireless-N: What you should know

by Blogger ‎04-24-2014 10:33 AM - edited ‎06-16-2014 09:56 PM

Wireless, or Wi-Fi, protocols aren’t common knowledge for the average consumer. It’s one of those understated tech specs that can play a big role in how well you enjoy the convenience of browsing or streaming on your home network. So, when you see the term 802.11ac, or Wireless-AC, you know you’re looking at the current standard. Still, there are routers and devices out there that work on 802.11n or Wireless-N, and it might be worth it to you to know the differences between them.

The concept of a convertible is usually known as driving with the top down, and that can be one way to describe what a convertible PC is supposed to be. These are hybrids in the sense that you can use them as laptops or tablets, either by separating the screen from the keyboard or flipping it in one way or another to change the input and user experience. There are plenty to choose from, and here’s a quick look at what they’re capable of.

Review: Samsung Galaxy TabPRO 8.4

by Blogger on ‎02-28-2014 02:28 PM - last edited on ‎05-16-2014 09:56 AM by Blog Editor in Chief

There’s a reason why Samsung has put the “pro” moniker on its latest line of tablets, and it has everything to do with who the company thinks can benefit from using them. The Galaxy TabPRO 8.4-inch is the smallest of the new trio of Tabs, and while it may not have as much business-focused cachet as its bigger brothers do, it offers a unique experience for an Android tablet at this size and with this screen. If you’ve had your eye on a Samsung tablet already, this might be the one you’ve been looking for.

Kobo Arc: more than one to choose from

by Blogger on ‎02-14-2014 02:20 PM - last edited on ‎02-21-2014 04:14 PM by Blog Editor in Chief

If a Kobo eReader isn’t what you’re looking for, an eReader tablet might fit the bill instead, which is where the trio of Arc tablets come in. While it’s true that an eReader is more focused on actually reading ebooks, a Kobo-flavoured tablet does that and gives you some of the frills you’d expect from an Android device. It’s a marriage that works pretty well, so long as you know what you’re getting from each one.

Review: Kobo Arc 10HD

by Blogger ‎11-30-2013 04:49 PM - edited ‎11-30-2013 04:49 PM

It’s only been recently that Kobo has tried its hand at making tablet eReaders to go along with its impressive line of standard eReaders. That might seem like a misnomer, especially since tablets have been forecasted by some to make eReaders irrelevant. But they haven’t, and instead, Kobo figures that the market that prefers to have a tablet experience can do so using one of its own. The Arc 10HD is the company’s prime tablet eReader, thanks to a high-res 10-inch IPS display and some good processing power under the hood. Is it a worthy alternative to the iPad and other Android tablets?

Review: HP Slate 7

by Blogger on ‎11-17-2013 06:22 PM - last edited on ‎11-19-2013 10:53 AM by Blog Editor in Chief

Tablets not only come in a few different sizes, but they also come with different price points. The more affordable end of that spectrum includes a model like the HP Slate 7, which seems to have flown under the radar a bit when compared to others like the Nexus 7 or Asus Memo Pad HD 7. If you are in the market for a tablet that will cost you less than $200 — and you only really want it for basic tasks — the Slate 7 could be worth a look.

The 2013-14 NHL season has already begun and if you’re a fan of a specific team or just love taking in games from various teams, NHL GameCenter is a pretty sweet package. For $150 (or $25 per month) for the full regular season, you get access to dozens of out-of-market streaming games every week. There are a couple of ways you can make your experience even better and gain access to every single game the service offers, regardless of the restrictions.
