Isn’t it ironic that brands like Apple and Samsung design their products to be as thin as ever, yet those same products are so fragile that our instinct is to buy a case to carry them in? Despite often being ostentatious and bulky, these cases are designed in all shapes and sizes to complement each of our individual tastes and use-case scenarios.

Which apps do you use most when you’re on the go? Arguably nothing changed the usability of smartphones more than apps. Not only could you take your music with you on your phone, but you could also take photos, map a destination and surf the Web. Once the apps rolled in and tablets came to market, capabilities ramped up considerably, showing little sign of stopping now.

Which apps do you use the most when you’re at home? There are probably a handful that you rely on, based on your familiarity and appreciation for what they do. Maybe you stream music from one or two favourites, or type away on messaging apps to stay in touch. Those limited use cases are set to expand in big ways in the next few years, and the transition is already underway.

ASUS T100 promises to "transform" your computing experience

by Blogger ‎03-01-2015 10:05 AM - edited ‎03-05-2015 06:53 AM

It’s no secret that I love hybrid devices. Laptops are handy and tablets are fun but having one device that can function as both is even better. Something about a gadget that can transform between different modes simply feels more futuristic to me. Lately I’ve been putting the Asus Transformer book T100TAM through its paces which is just such a device. It’s a sort of two-in-one laptop-tablet hybrid device that lets you use it as a laptop when you need to and as a standalone tablet the rest of the time.

by Blogger ‎02-24-2015 12:48 PM - edited ‎02-24-2015 01:27 PM

Tablet-streaming.jpg

From the small screen to the big screen. It’s the kind of functionality that makes a lot of sense in the home. Why watch a movie on your smartphone when you can beam it over to your much larger TV? Why not do the same with your tablet or computer? There are a number of ways in which to do this, and they’re not only easy to use, they also don’t require much to install or maintain them.

You may not know it, but your tablet can be the entry point to a lot of streaming video. No doubt, you already know about, or have streamed video from a number of sources, and there may be more you’re not aware of. Canada is always unique when it comes to that because of geo-restrictions that either shut out the Great White North, or offer a different catalog altogether. Here’s a look at the options available to you.

Sometimes, a good recommendation can be a great starting point or the final confirmation when making the decision to buy a device like a tablet. Of course, not every tablet works for every user, and not every user wants every tablet that’s available, so it doesn’t hurt to filter through the options. This group of tablets are the ones that stand out based on feedback from you, the readers and consumers.

To an outsider, it might seem like all tablets are the same. They’re more or less all flat rectangles with touchscreens and a couple of buttons along an edge or two. Don’t let the superficial similarities fool you though. There can be a huge difference between tablets and picking the right tablet to match how you intend to use it can make all the difference in the world.

It's wonderful seeing tablets grow increasingly popular with each passing year. They’re becoming invaluable devices for anyone who needs more than a smartphone, but less than a desktop workstation PC. These days there are so many tablet options that you can surely find one to suit your needs and one of the big factors in your decision ought to be screen size. The size of your tablet’s screen can make a big impact on how you use the device in the future. It impacts how portable the device is, sure. Obviously a mini-tablet is easier to carry around than a jumbo-tablet, but it is so much more than that. Depending on which screen size you go for, it can affect how you hold your tablet, how useful it is for certain tasks, and of course how much you’ll be spending.
