Review: The Evil Within brings back that scary, survival-horror feel

by Blogger ‎11-29-2014 11:04 PM - edited ‎11-29-2014 11:22 PM

As someone who’s been able to stomach the most spine-chilling of horror games, I have to admit The Evil Within really got to me. The game feels like an intense, abstruse, and gruesome sequel to Resident Evil 4, which makes sense since both games were led by famed game director Shinji Mikami. I enjoyed The Evil Within overall, but be warned, there’s absolutely nothing congenial about this game at all; it is literally, your worst fears fully realized and made frighteningly interactive.

Diablo 3 Ultimate Evil Edition - comes to nextgen consoles.jpg

Considering how much I enjoyed last year’s console version of Diablo III, hearing that an “Ultimate Evil Edition” was coming to PS4 and Xbox One, which bundled together enhanced versions of Diablo III and the Reaper of Souls expansion set, got me thoroughly excited. This upgraded combo pack boasts sharp 1080p graphics, great new social features, and it’s the most accessible version of the game yet. That’s on top of the new content added in Reaper of Souls, all included on the disc, like the brand new Crusader character class and the additional fifth Act. Simply put, this is the definitive console version of one of the best action role-playing games ever made.

Toronto was abuzz August 28-31, as Fan Expo Canada, the nation’s largest annual comics, sci-fi, horror, anime, and gaming event, took over the massive North and South buildings of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The jam-packed Fan Expo schedule included celebrity Q&As, autograph and photo opportunities, workshops with industry professionals, cosplay, and retail and exhibitor areas. With over 100,000 fans attending this year’s convention, the show floor was absolutely packed!
