Traditional Christmas tart - Canadian edition

by Blogger on ‎12-10-2014 10:46 PM - last edited on ‎12-17-2014 10:24 AM by Blog Editor in Chief

Nothing else chains me to the kitchen like Christmas—and I love it. Every Christmas I feel like a mad scientist trying out new recipes. Most of which are naturally desserts. While I’m very comfortable with cakes (as I mentioned in a previous article, I’m Polish and we pretty much invented cake) tarts are a completely different story. I didn’t grow up with tarts. But, nothing encourages me more in life than being able to make something that I love. And I looooooove tarts. So when I found a recipe for a Maple Cream tart, I knew I had to try it. The results were great. Try it for yourself.

Review: Disney Fantasia Music Evolved will make you feel like a real magical sorcerer

by Blogger ‎12-10-2014 07:58 PM - edited ‎12-10-2014 08:25 PM

There came a point during my time with Fantasia: Music Evolved where I felt like Mickey from Disney’s Fantasia, and that moment was pure magic. With just my hands I was directing music, as elegantly and freely as Mickey did when he donned Yen Sid’s iconic crescent moon and star-laden sorcerer’s hat. Fantasia: Music Evolved is like nothing I’ve ever played before, it’s innovative, it’s exhilarating, and it’s Xbox One’s first must-own Kinect game.

Review Skylanders Trap Team Tablet Edition

Tablet versions of PC or console games usually feel like forced and diluted versions of the original. The popular franchise Skylanders attempts to break the mold with their full-featured tablet edition designed for iPads and some Android tablets. The Skylanders Trap Team tablet edition doesn’t just aim to provide a pale copy of the version available on PC and popular consoles, it really makes the best use of the tablet’s power and portability to create an engaging and well-executed experience that may actually be preferred by some users.

I’ve always loved networking. No, not in the social sense but in the IT sense. The idea of connecting devices together to let them communicate always had a certain allure to me. Whether it was dialing in to a BBS, connecting game consoles for multiplayer, or hooking up wireless internet, once you connect digital devices you unlock a world of potential. With that in mind, I enjoy checking out what’s new and exciting in the world of home networking. I’m fortunate enough to be able to test out all the latest and greatest home networking gear these days. It seems like every month I’m taking a new piece of home networking gear for a spin to put it through its paces so I’m pretty familiar with what’s out there. One of the big names in home networking these days is D-Link. Looking at their range of routers you’ll find a surprising variety to suit every budget and use case.

The best tablets, as rated by you, the consumers

by Blogger on ‎12-09-2014 11:50 PM - last edited on ‎12-15-2014 08:45 AM by Blog Editor in Chief

Sometimes, a good recommendation can be a great starting point or the final confirmation when making the decision to buy a device like a tablet. Of course, not every tablet works for every user, and not every user wants every tablet that’s available, so it doesn’t hurt to filter through the options. This group of tablets are the ones that stand out based on feedback from you, the readers and consumers.

Cricut Explore Review - a machine that brings your ideas to life

by Blogger on ‎12-07-2014 10:34 PM - last edited on ‎12-17-2014 09:45 AM by Blog Editor in Chief

Cricut-Explore-Machine-Open.jpgCAUTION! The following contains a description of a highly fun and addictive machine. Read at your own risk!

Ever since I was a little child I loved sewing, painting, cutting—creating with my hands. It brings me joy. First you imagine something and then you bring it to life.  Also you immerse yourself in these tasks and lose completely a sense of time and space; it’s only you and the thing you’re creating. That’s exactly why when I had the opportunity to test Cricut Explore I got super excited. Now, you may ask: What is it? Cricut Explore is an electronic cutting machine that can turn your idea into a finished project. All my Christmas projects done in a matter of minutes, without the use of an exacto knife?! Can this be true?

Review: Hipstreet Phoenix Android tablet

by Blogger on ‎12-06-2014 03:07 PM - last edited on ‎12-11-2014 11:03 AM by Blog Editor in Chief

Lately I’ve been spending some time with the Hipstreet Phoenix tablet. I’ve used a lot of different tablets over the years, from the ubiquitous iPad, to the genre defying Surface. I love how much variety there is in tablets these days, and its great that more manufacturers are getting in on the scene too. While Hipstreet is by no means new to the tablet game, I had never tried out any of Hipstreet’s devices before so I was particularly curious how this tablet would stack up the other tablets out there. I have no existing expectations from the brand so this was like a blind taste test. I usually keep quite up to date on the news for all the latest gadgets but I had no idea what to expect this time.
