We already took a look at some apps to help the visual artists take full advantage of their iPad. Today let's take a look at some of the possibilities available for musicians. Many in the music scene are excited by the ipad, seeing its potential as a new music making tool for their arsenal. As a result there are a wide variety of apps out there to reflect some of these ideas.
Korg, a big name in the music scene, has the iMS-20 which is a full analog synth studio simulating the classic Korg MS-20 monophonic synth. You can do so much with this if you’re into electronic music. It's arsenal features a synth, 16-step SQ-10 based sequencer, and drum machine all fully features and with Korg’s Kaoss Pad technology as the cherry on top. Once you’ve completed your track, the iMS-20 makes it easy to share it on SoundCloud.
The Moog Animoog is a really fun polyphonic wavetable synthesizer. It is Moog’s attempt to transform the iPad into a new and unique instrument capitalizing on the capabilities of the hardware. Powered by Moog’s new Anisotropic Synth Engine, this app lets you move dynamically through an X/Y audio plane for a very dynamic sound. You’ll really feel like you’re shaping and sculpting sound. This ap features MIDI in so you can use any MIDI controller for direct control of the app.
FL Studio Mobile brings the popular desktop Fruity Loops functionality to your iPad. This great app lets you create and share full multi-track music compositions directly from your iPad. If you already use that desktop application this ipad app makes it easy to migrate your work between the two. Like the Korg iMS-20 this one also supports SoundCloud upload, and like the Animoog this app also supports MIDI control.
Of course there are a lot more apps out there for musicians and it's worth taking a look at some of the variety. It's exciting to see how the use of tables is increasing for artists and musicians as they find great ways to take advantage of these devices and turn them into tools for creation.
