Future Shop’s Future Generation unveils five new state-of-the-art Tech Labs

Last week, Future Shop and our Future Generation program helped five Canadian schools publicly unveil their new Tech Lab classrooms for the very first time. Since 2008, the Future Generation Tech Lab program has been awarding high schools with $50,000 grants to renovate the update classrooms with the latest electronics. The goal is to provide students in grades 10-12 with the tools they need to explore their potential. Each school is empowered to use their donation to select the technologies that will best service their students learning needs.

Each classroom is impressive to see, and I always enjoying seeing or hearing about the reactions of the schools and their students, teachers and parents when they experience the new space. I thought I’d share some of the photos taken at each lab:

Kelowna, BC – Mount Boucherie Secondary School: created a cutting edge working working shop with laser engravers.

So how important is giving back to the community for Future Shop? That’s easy to answer: tremendous. Having children of my own, I know how critical technology is for young people’s learning and success. Future Generation’s Tech Lab program is a positive outlet that exists to help Canadians schools provide today’s students with the technology they need. Technology to engage, inspire and build opportunities for youth in our local communities.
