FAQ: Pre-orders

Recently there have been lots of discussions about pre-orders for movies & games popping up in the community, so we thought we'd post an FAQ that hopefully helps to answer some of these!

Q: I pre-ordered a title (gaming or movie). I see that the retail price has now dropped. Will I receive the lower price?

A: Yes. Your order is eligible for our lowest price guarantee and your credit card will be charged the lower price when your product ships to you. Read our guarantee.

Q: I pre-ordered a title (gaming or movie). I see that there is now a bonus SteelBook™ or bonus gift being offered with the title. Are all pre-orders eligible for these bonuses?

A: These bonuses are time-sensitive promotions that are limited in nature, therefore to take advantage of this special offer the pre-order must occur within the specified time frame.* There is the option of cancelling your first pre-order and pre-ordering again to be eligible for the bonus. These promotions cannot be combined with any other offers.

Q: I pre-ordered a gaming title. I see there is now a limited edition available for the same price. Will my regular edition be upgraded to the limited edition?

A: This promotion is also time-sensitive and limited in nature as there are usually only a certain amount of limited edition titles that Future Shop has. Therefore to take advantage of this special limited edition the pre-order must occur within the specified time frame.* There is the option of cancelling your first pre-order and pre-ordering again to be eligible for the limited edition. These promotions cannot be combined with any other offers.

Q: I pre-ordered a gaming title. I see there is now downloadable digital content available with the title. Are all pre-orders eligible for this digital content?

A: Digital content that we advertise is generally exclusive to Future Shop, and is therefore limited in numbers. Therefore to take advantage of this digital content the pre-order must occur within the specified time frame.* There is the option of cancelling your first pre-order and pre-ordering again to be eligible for the limited edition. These promotions cannot be combined with any other offers.

*Specified time frame refers to the date the promotion was featured, until the release date of the title.

Re: FAQ: Pre-orders

Thanks for clarifying your policies, I've spent a lot of time recently with customer service trying to resolve these issues.

But I'm wondering about this policy of only offering bonuses from the time a promo starts until release date.   Doesn't this imply it's best to wait until the last possible moment to pre-order, since that way you'll get all the bonuses?  Doesn't that defeat the purpose of pre-ordering early?

Re: FAQ: Pre-orders

Hi TripleQ,

Unfortunately, the time period period when we can make the bonuses available will vary depending on when the special content can be negotiated with our vendor.  There is always the option of cancelling the initial pre-order and re-ordering if there is a bonus that you want to take advantage of.

Cheers,

So if you pre-ordered during E3 on placeholder prices of 59.99 on games that sell at 39.99 or 49.99, you only get the discount off the 59.99 price? What is the point of pre-ordering early then? Especially when you do not get the bonuses? Futureshop should make it grandfathered into pre-orders that have already happened, otherwise there is no point in pre-ordering games from futureshop
