Swapping systems for NEW games

I recieved a new PS3 game for Xmas, but I have an XBox.  Is it possible to simply swap the unopened PS3 game for a new Xbox game of the same title?  The game was not originally bought at FS.

The game is Assassins Creed: Revelations, and you carry it for both consoles at the same price.

Thanks.

Re: Swapping systems for NEW games

Do you have a receipt? If not, ask whoever bought the game for you for one. If it's a gift receipt, you can return the game for a refund of store credit, in which case you can use that to buy the game for the 360.

Of course, this all depends on when the person who gave it to you purchased the game. If it was more than 30 days ago, then you might be stuck with trading the game in and then using that credit toward the purchase of the 360 version. You'll have the same option if you can't get a receipt.

Hope that helps!

Re: Swapping systems for NEW games

I can't say for sure, but I have returned games to Future Shop without a receipt and if you are nice to the CS person they can sometimes give you credit for the game at the lowest price over the past 90 days.

You can then use that credit to buy the XBOX version of the same game.

However, I think it was an exception rather than the rule, so YMMV.  Being nice helps though.

Re: Swapping systems for NEW games

Thanks for the quick replies.

I do have a gift reciept (the game was shipped to me directly by an online company).  I do not want to have to ship the game back and wait for a replacement - I want to start gaming now!  Off to FS it is, then.

Atomic: I am always an angel, but I am especially nice if I need to talk to customer service in the month after Xmas.  I've been there...

Hi calystia,

The game was purchased from FS, correct?

Re: Swapping systems for NEW games

Totally missed the part about it not being purchased at Future Shop. I don't believe you will be able to get a refund for the game, store credit or otherwise, as it was purchased elsewhere.

You may, providing the game is still in the shrink wrap, and if you are nice to the store manager, be able to simply swap the game, but with UPC codes and such being what they are, that doesn't seem all that likely, but not impossible.

I wish you the best of luck!

Ahh, right, gotcha.  It is still in the shrink wrap and everything, but was purchased through another company.  I will see if they will do an exchange in store, if it is a no-go I guess I will have to send it off.

Thanks.
