Today, Microsoft has declared that Windows 8 has reached RTM status ("released to manufacturing").  The next major milestone will be Oct 26, when it becomes available to the general public.

For those who are interested in trying out Windows 8, Microsoft has now released a 90-day trial version of the final product.

A word of caution:  this version will expire in 90 days with no paths to convert to a fully-functional version.  Therefore, use it only for testing and "play" purposes.
