I guess the receiver has to be cranked to 20+ to produce ambient noise on the  mini Sony surround speakers... Oh well   lets see how long before I re connect the Paradigms  

But in all fairness to this " Sony in the Box system"  it does sound OK( clean )  at 22-23 level  especially for  a product at the 350.00 price point.
