I have an acer aspire one SSD with an 8GB hard drive. I would like to upgrade my hard drive. I would like to know if a 2.5" hard drive will fit in my netbook. and if I can purchase that @ futureshop.
p.s.I've been doing some research and see that some ppl use an 1.8" ipod hard drive.

We would need to know your specific model, as there are different Aspire One models with different hard drives in them. From what I've seen of them though, the solid state drives are not meant to be user replaceable(ie. there's no slot for them), and those drives do tend to be a fair bit smaller than a regular 2.5" laptop hard drive.
But give us your full model number and we'll see if we can tell you for sure!

The only way to make a 2.5" hard drive fit into that model is to solder a converter into it. So unfortunately I would say no.
If you're interested in trying it out, you can see someone who has successfully done it here. But again, for 99% of people I would highly advise against this.

Perhaps a FS employee can answer this better, but my take is the procedure described in the article involves non-factory authorized modifications and it is not something that FS would like to involve themselves in.
If space is really an issue for you, selling your current unit and buying another one is probably a better way to go.
