DVI or VGA - I have a monitor which gives me the option of using VGA or DVI - which is best?

DVI if your video card supports it as its a digital signal.  If your computer/video card supports only VGA(analog signal), then it doesn't really matter if you adapt it to DVI for your monitor or not.

most people won't notice the difference between a VGA and DVI connection sure i use DVI but VGA does offer higher resolutions and it's looks almost the same.

DVI will produce a better picture quality, allowing for a greater range of colors, higher resolutions, and a crisper image.
