The ideal for viewing is eye level while your sitting.  Most people find this kind of odd to have it that low, eye level while standing is the norm assuming you have enough distance from the TV to the couch to make it comfortable.  The closer you are to the TV, the lower you'll need to mount it for it to be comfortable viewing.
