I would not waste any more money on your 605. The battery on this unit will only last about 2 years then fail...a new battery for this unit only costs 25usd but is almost impossible to install yourself, requires complete disassembly of the unit. Archos will repair but you need to send the unit to US and pay a $85 min. 

well i have it for 3 years and it keeps me enterntained during boring times on the road... even if battery fail with dvr station it will automaticly recharge, so its like gonna work from the actual power outlet.

im not planning to just thow it out cuz its old..

The DVR station meant for the newer Archos 5 and 7 is incompatible with the Archos 605 (I own both the 605 and the 5).

I just bought a refurbed DVR station for my 605 from (competitor) for $57 shipped.  Comes with cables, power supply, remote, and the station itself.

It is my understanding that the DVR station WILL NOT allow the 605 to function if the battery is shot.

may i ask where did ya get dvr station for 605?

If your battery charges up but does not hold a charge for long...mine only about 10-15 min...the DVR station should run your Archos. Mine does no problem, and seems to be fine...runs for any amount of time as long as it's plugged in. My Archos 605 wifi will operate no problems as long as it's plugged in. It's just not portable anymore.

Go to Archos.com for a DVR station. You may be able to purchase one that was originally for the Gen5.

Look in the refurbished section as well.
