Hey! I was on the site of a few hours and decided to write a post.
I'm currently looking to buy a new computer(more a laptop then anything else) mostly to play Aion Online and SC2, but heres my problem. I am looking for something around 800$ and under. I've found a few laptops that are good at around that price on other sites, but i wanted to see what experts had to offer me on futureshop.
I am currently on a desktop:
Operating system:Windows 2.5.1.2600 (SP 3) CPU type:AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800 CPU Speed (GHz):2.028 System memory (GB):0.749 Graphics card model:NVIDIA GeForce 6100 nForce 430 Graphics card driver:nv4_disp.dll Desktop resolution:1024x768 Hard disk size (GB):113.729 Hard disk free space (GB):113.715
Thank you in advance!

Hi Kashi!
Let me start with the preface that you shouldn't expect stellar gaming performance from an $800 laptop. So as long as you aren't fanatic about frame rate and having the highest settings, you should have some luck ![]()
If you are looking at a laptop for any level of gaming, you can quickly weed out a lot of dead weight by discluding machines with integrated graphics. A dedicated graphics card with 512 Megs of ram (or more) should be a rough baseline. Futureshop has a few laptops in the 15-16 inch size that meet your price requirement and have dedicated video cards, but I can't really speak to their performance as I don't have a lot of experience with them. This laptop would probably perform on par, or maybe a bit better than your current desktop machine, so if you are satisfied with those games on your desktop, it might be an option for you. Also consider processor speed and the amount of RAM for performance. After that you can add in the other things that matter to you, like HDMI out, number of USB ports, card readers, etc.
One last tip. Pick your favorite search engine and search for Notebookcheck game performance. You will find a site that graphs out a bunch of mobile (laptop) graphics cards and tells you what games you can expect to play smoothly and at which video settings.
I hope that helps. If you have any questions, let me know!

I would not suggest getting a laptop for gaming. You can get a desktop cheaper if you make it yourself but if you really are set on getting a laptop Dell and Hp have some good ones. Make sure that they dont have an integratted graphics card and at least 2.6Ghz.
