The simple english response of "we can refund the OS" is, again, surprisingly straight forward :smileyhappy:

I only wonder about the impact upon the hardware warranty from future shop...

Well, that's a great news for you. If you do proceed with this and get a refund, could you please let us know how much they gave you?
Thank you for sharing this information with us:smileyhappy:

Until next time,

It's great that they're willing to accomodate you!  Futureshop does not warranty any products, the manufacturers do.  If you buy a Product Service Plan, it's the insurance company the plans are with that warranties them.  Now, as far as I know, having dealt with warranty many times, there may be issues if an issue could possibly be a software incompatibility with whichever operating system you put on it, as software is not covered by warranty.  The hardware side of things should be unaffected though, if it fails, it failed, the operating system wouldn't likely cause a hardware failure.

"In order to proceed with this, you will need to register the computer from the support site then contact our technical support department, and schedule the computer to come in to our service center. You will need to ship this in at your expense, and we will low-level format the drive and remove the Certificate of Authenticity sticker from the bottom of the computer."

Is it really worth it though?  The cost of shipping easily cost you more than the OS refund.  (You won't be getting the cost of a full retail copy of Windows, but the OEM discounted pricing.)
