  • What is a video gallery and how do I view it?

A video gallery is a collection of videos that you or another community member has uploaded (and chosen to share). Each community member who has permission to upload videos has a video gallery. Your video gallery is also one of the pages from which you can upload videos, and is where you choose whether to share a video with other users.

You can view your own video gallery as well as the video galleries of other community members. When you look at another user's gallery, you see the approved videos that the user has chosen to share.

    To view your video gallery:

    1. Click your user name at the top of any community page to go to your Profile page.
A preview of your video gallery appears on the right side of your Profile page.
    2. Click the View Video Gallery link.

To view another user's video gallery:

    1. Click the community member's user name to go to that user's Profile page.
A preview of that user's shared videos appears on the right side of the Profile page.
    2. Click the View Video Gallery link.
  • How do I upload a video to my video gallery?

It's easy! Starting from your video gallery, you choose the video, give it a name, and you're done. There are size limitations, of course, and your video must be approved by a community moderator before it can appear in your gallery or you can insert it in a post.

To upload a video to your video gallery:

    1. Go to your Profile page and click the View Video Gallery link.
    2. Click Upload a Video
    3. Click Browse to select a video file to be uploaded.
If the video is small enough (the size limit is set by your community), the video is uploaded. A preview of the video appears so that you can make sure you uploaded the right video.
    4. Type a title for the video and a description if you wish.
The video title appears above the video when you view videos one at a time.
    5. Click the Hide in Gallery (Private) check box to make this video private.
Private videos never appear when other community members view your video gallery. They only appear if you insert the video in a post.
    6. Click Upload.
The Status area provides information about the upload.
  • How do I insert a video in a post?

You can insert a video from your computer (this uploads the video to your gallery), from your video gallery (if the video has been approved), or from YouTube.

To insert a video in a post:

    1. Start a new post.
You can insert videos anywhere: in messages, replies, blog articles, ideas, or comments.
    2. Click the Insert Video button in the editor's toolbar (it looks like a strip of film).
    3. Choose one of the sources listed below.

To insert a video located on your computer:

    1. Click the From My Computer tab.
    2. Click Browse to select a file.
    3. Type a title for the video if you want something other than the file name.
    4. Click Hide in Gallery (Private) to keep the video private until your post appears.
    5. Click Upload
    6. Choose a video size.
      • Original Size inserts the video at the full size of the original file.
      • Small, Medium, and Large insert the video at the sizes defined for your community.
We don't stretch videos, so very small videos won't get any bigger regardless of the video size you choose.
    7. Choose how to align the video.
      • Left inserts the video on the left side of the post. Any text that comes after the video appears to the right.
      • Inline inserts the video right where the cursor is in the editor. If you add a return after the video, any text you add appears below the video.
      • Right inserts the video on the right side of the post. Text appears to the left of the video. If you add a lot of text, it eventually wraps under the video.
    8. Click Insert Video.

To insert a video from your video gallery:

    1. Click the From My Gallery tab.
    2. Click the video.
    3. Choose a video size.
    4. Choose how you want the video aligned.
    5. Click Insert Video.

To insert a video from YouTube:

    1. Click the From YouTube tab.
    2. Enter the URL for the YouTube video.
    3. Choose a video size.
    4. Choose how you want the video aligned.
    5. Click Insert Video.
  • My friends can't see the videos I've uploaded. Where are they?

There are two main reasons why you might not be able to view videos:
    • Your videos are still being processed after uploading.
After you upload a video a certain amount of processing is required before you can view it.
    • Your videos haven't been approved yet.
For your protection, your community requires a moderator to approve all uploaded videos before we can display them in your gallery. You can see the status below each video in your gallery. Other community members can see videos marked Approved, but can't see videos marked Awaiting Approval or Recalled.
  • What is a private video?

A private video is one that only you can see.

Each time you upload a video you can decide whether you want that video to appear in your video gallery. If you decide no, the video is private.

The setting you choose depends on why you're uploading the video. If you want others to see it, make the video public (the default). If you want to keep the video a secret until you insert it in a post, make the video private.

Remember, a moderator may need to approve your videos before your can use them in a post or display them in your gallery.

To change the privacy setting for a video:

    1. In your gallery page, click the check box below the video you want to change.
    2. Choose Video Options > Make All Checked Videos Public or Private.
