Hi there. Yesterday I got the new iPad.(3rd gen) I played with it on the couch and took some pictures. When I was done I put it back in its box. The next day I put it in my old leather iPad case to charge, when I saw it again in the suns glare it had a crack from about an inch from the home button down. I can't think of doing anything to scratch it. Will future shops 14 day policy cover this? Please help!
Thanks,
-sol

From your description, it sounds like this is simply a scratch, rather than an actual crack in the glass. Is this correct? Assuming it is a scratch - while you may not remember doing anything to cause it, accidentally scratching the glass screen of these devices doesn't take much effort. Unless you are really really careful it is inevitable that with the passage of time and frequent use there will be more scratches.
If you are returning a product within Future Shop's post-purchase time window, that product must be in the same condition as when you purchased it. In this case, a noticeable scratch or a crack in the glass would likely be interpreted as physical damage you caused - in which case, Future Shop may refuse to take it back. However it never hurts to ask - just bring it in to the store you purchased it at, and speak with one of the customer service reps.
And finally - if you want to minimize the risk of permanently scratching the screen in future, consider buying protective film for it.

The ipad has a crack, it is noticeable at the top of the crack and not so visible lower down. Do you know of any way to contact the future shop people from where i live?
Thanks!

I think it is going to be difficult to convince anyone that the crack is a result of a manufacturing defect. However...
It sounds as though you don't live close to a Future Shop store. Getting this sorted out over the phone is going to be a challenge - I suspect you are going to be asked to ship the iPad back to Future Shop for an assessment. You can reach Customer Care by phone at 1-800-663-2275,
