The exact process will vary from one manufacturer to another - unfortunately in this particular case I can not speak to any personal experience. Given that you are now out of country your best course of action is to speak directly with the manufacturer about the problem and possible resolutions (it is likely you will require your original reciept).
I'd start with this page as it highlights the various toll free numbers available to you by country.

Depending on what Dr. Dre headphones you have, some of them are really easy to open. With the Solo's you can just twist the foam padding's plastic ring and it pops off. Same idea for the Studio's. So I would suggest watching a video of this being done (If you have those types...) and trying to see if you just have a lose connection, if so it's an easy fix and you could bring it in to small electronics business's to try and see if they will re-solder the connection for you.
