does an i pod nano fit and plug into the i pod speaker docking stations?

I'm assuming a 6th gen nano.

Check the specifications of the dock you're looking at. If you just want to be able to plug it into a dock you may already have you could try to use a line in cable (if the dock has an input for that) to listen to music. Some old docks may play the 6th gen nano's music but may not charge it.

Just check the specs of the dock, the manufacturers should state what iPods it works with.
